| Can't 'System Restore' after Device Driver Problem After Windows XP rebooted following the blue screen of death, I followed the prompts that informed me that Windows recovered from a serious error and asked me to report the problem to Microsoft. After the report was sent, I was connected to a Microsoft Web page that informed me that there was a problem with a device driver and provided several options to address this. Since I had not installed any new devices or software within the past several weeks, I elected the default choice, which was to restore my system to a previous time, presumably before the problem occurred. However, when I tried to restore my system to a previous date, when it rebooted I was informed that the System Restore was incomplete, and no changes were made to my computer. I got the same result on several successive attempts, which ranged from attempted restore points that were from several weeks ago to yesterday. Why would the System Restore not work? And any suggestions about what to do -- if anything -- about the alleged device driver problem? (It has happened again once each day during the past two days.) Chris |
