Windows XP SP2

This verges on the ultra stupid so be imaginative.

When I load a CD or USB the drive pops up. How do I control this?
I thought I found the key but either it's not working or I'm not doing it
right.

What I want is for it to stay inactive.

Open "My Computer", right-click the device, click Properties, click the
AutoPlay tab and change the setting to "Take no action". Do this with
each device.
