Sounds and Audio Devices Program Does Not Load On Windows XP Start

This is an intermittent fault. Some days I can start the laptop without an
error. Other days, this happens 3 or 4 times before I can get a clean start
without any faults. Why is it THIS particular control panel program? Its
really annoying to have to constantly shutdown, and start again. It happens
maybe a couple days in a row, then I get a good day when it starts normally,
if there is such a thing. I am under the idea that maybe this is a bad
Windows XP system, and I would have to completely start from scratch to fix
it. Any takers on what could possibly be wrong?

So what exactly is the error, when does it appear and in what form? What is
the text of the error verbatim? What is the manifestation of this error?
Does something not work? Look in the event viewer in the various logs for
any error messages. These can give a clue to what's going on. What
troubleshooting steps have you taken? Have you uninstalled/reinstalled the
sound device drivers?

To Rock, the error in question is exactly how it happens; I am not adding
anything on to it, this is self explanitory. I was looking for the fix. There
is no error code. This program just doesn't load at startup and is an
intermittent problem. I can see I won't get the answer I needed from you,
sorry.

I'm sorry but your post still isn't clear. What exactly is the error? How
does what happen exactly?

Re: Sounds and Audio Devices Program Does Not Load On Windows XPS

What do you mean "Sounds and Audio Devices Program Does Not Load on
Windows XP startup". That ISN'T a program that loads on startup, it's a
configuration utility that is available and is found in Control Panel
that is used to configure your sound devices. It sounds more like you
have an intermittent sound hardware problem. If the sound hardware
doesn't respond during boot up the operating system can't see it, and
you will not have any sound. If you look in device manager when it is
working and when its not working you will see the problems under Sound,
Video and Game controllers entry. If there is a bad connection causing
it on the the motherboard, you will need to take it to a shop.

Thanks Bob I, I explained the best way that it shows up here. I know its not
a program, I mistyped here. I am really not sure if its a loose connection on
the motherboard or not. That yes, I will have to take to the laptop
manufacturer as its still in warranty. I will look in the device manager when
it fails and when its good. This may help but when I checked Dr. Watson on my
system it showed no problems even though the sound icon and the Sounds and
Audio Devices in Control Panel didn't load( In Control Panel the box was
almost completely shaded and could not activate any of those things to help
restore, you know mute, show icon on taskbar etc.) So, I will recheck those
things that you have suggested other than the motherboard item. If all checks
good, I will take it to the manufacturer of my laptop here in New Zealand.
Thanks for your help, this is (Any chance it could be a bad factory oem
sound card?) a really annoying thing that happens each day or so.

Re: Sounds and Audio Devices Program Does Not Load On Windows XPS

Yes it could be a bad audio module, as I said, if the hardware doesn't
respond, the operating system can't see it. So there isn't much one can
do software wise.
