| Recycle bin empty-I didn't do it I went to find something in my recycle bin and there were only two days of deletions. I did not empty it myself, intentionally that is. The storage max is set at 10%..I have never changed it so I assume this is the default amount? Could I have mistakenly emptied it using disk cleanup? I'm very sure it has been at least a month since I ran that utility and I have deleted many items since that time???? Is there something else that may have emptied the bin?? |

If those two days worth were large enough, older days would have gotten bumped. |

| Re: Recycle bin empty-I didn't do it Thank you for your prompt response. Yesterday I was burning CDs to back up my photo files. When the CD writing is finished the files copied are deleted to the Recycle Bin. There are several files over 500,000 KB and a few over 800,000 KB. My drive is 111GB with 30.4GB free space. You can see the total by checking in disk cleanup or by right-clicking it and looking in Properties then in "General". I doubt that they would add up to 11gigs, but you can check. In the meantime, pay more attention to the Recycle Bin. You are unlikely to ever find out why only two days worth exist. > >"MP Descartes" wrote: > >> Valerie <Valerie@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >> >> >I went to find something in my recycle bin and there were only two days of >> >deletions. | Re: Recycle bin empty-I didn't do it I had right clicked on the recycle bin icon and clicked properties before I last replied; however, I didn't see the General tab and there was no information on the size of the file. On your suggestion, I just checked using Disk Cleanup...3,501,106 K. I think you are right...I will never know what happened. Thankfully the item I was looking for is not very important. I will take your advice and keep an eye on the recyle bin. Thanks for your help.
