| All my backup items are now zips - need assistance please This isn't directly XP, but a program I have running in xp pro and I am hoping that some of you can suggest how to overcome this delima. What I have here is that a third party backup program I use gives me the option to back up straight forward or to zip my files. When it zips them, it saves the folder structure in the zip. Well I had to redo some things on my computer and restored some of these backups and now, I have a ton of folders that are all zipped. Meaning that, if I go to something on my D: drive a few folders down (as an example "D:Photos/June/Rafting/Fun/photo1.jpg") that now, the restored folders/files no have that same path, but rather than the example file as shown, it is "photo1.zip" and if I were to unzip that file, it upzips to the entire folder heiarchy. This would be a simple fix if it were only a couple of files/folders, but in my case, we are talking about hundreds of files and folders. So now, I am hoping so of you can offer suggestions on how to fix this using xp internal aids or maybe something third party? Thought of a program called multiziplicity, but not sure that it would work properly. Any ideas are very much appreciated. In the future, I think I will think twice before compression of such things. |

| Re: All my backup items are now zips - need assistance please Thanks for the reply, but this method you are referring to seems to only allow one folder to be unzipped at a time. I am using Winzip 12 pro and not seeing how you would work this no matter what method I try. Got any other suggestions? Would a screenshot help of what I have going on? Any other suggestions from anyone else? Thanks much. | Re: All my backup items are now zips - need assistance please Restore to the Highest folder.. i.e. - D:Photos/June/Rafting/Fun/photo1.jpg Unzip it to D:\ as you are using 'Path info' it will put it in the folder it was zipped from if it exists. if not it will create the full path(s).
