| Error "997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress Running XP SP1. XP2 fails because of the installer issue. It let me install 3.1, but the problem still persists.I'm the admin on the computer, which is also the only account on the computer. No guest accounts. When I try to install a program, it wont go because of the installer error I've tried to start the installer service (it's on auto, was manual), but i gives me the error Error "997: Overlapped I/O operation is in progress. I also tried to go though solution at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315353 At the command prompt, typemsiexec.exe /unregister, and then press ENTER. Type msiexec /regserver, and then press ENTER. But I get "An event was unable to invoke any of the subscribers" / I've tried a repair also. I really don't want to reinstall XP because of the programs I need and will have a long time dealing with restoring backups to each app. Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, Owen |
