| Folder Permissions I want to change the permissions on a folder but I do not want it to change the permissions on the subfolders or files within that folder. Can I do this or do I have to go to each subfolder AFTER I change the permissions and remove the inheritance? I would hate to do that because this folder has hundreds of subfolders. Any ideas? Thanks, Jasper |

| RE: Folder Permissions You only need to adjust the next level of folders immediately below the top one, so as not to inherit the parent's settings, but to retain the existing settings as their own properties. Folders below that level would inherit the change. Thus, it would depend if the next level down has only a few folders, or many. If many, a scripted solution using cacls or the like might be the best approach. | Re: Folder Permissions I'm not sure but try to apply your permissions to only this container by enabling checkbox "Apply these permissions to objects and/or containers within this container only" and choose relevant affected object. This setting are defined at properties > security > advanced > double click on permission entry. help explains applicable rules. |
