USB devices won't install.

I've a new computer and I can't get any of my USB devices to install. These
devices include USB external hard drives and memory sticks. They show up in
Device Manager with a yellow question mark next to them. I'm requested to use
an installation CD because no drivers can be found. Any help would be most
appreciated. I'm not good at sorting out such problems, so any advice would
need to be step by step instructions. Thanks in advance.

Re: USB devices won't install.

I have found usb stick, unless in slot at boot up, is not seen in My
Computer.
Work round for that until M/S sort is to right click on start button
icon, then explore and it then appears.

Re: USB devices won't install.

Normally with USB devices (in my experience) you install the software
(including the drivers) first, restart the system then plug in the device
when Windows has re-loaded.
