system restore disabled

Can someone help please. Task manager, system registry, and system restore
are disabled on my pc. I figured I would use system restore to fix, but the
check box to re-enable system restore is not highlighted so I can't
re-enable. Please help me to re-enable system restore.
Any step by step help will be very useful, I will be most grateful.
Many thanks.

Download the following from "Safe Mode with Networking". Update
its definitions before running.
Malwarebytes© Corporation - Anti-Malware

Re: system restore disabled

perhaps the lack of the
functionality of the system
restore feature is also an
indicator that your system
is experiencing issues in
addition to the one(s) you
were trying to fix.

in this case, i would simply
suggest to boot up with
your windows xp cd and
initiate a repair installation.

the method above will replace
missing or corrupted system files
on the disk with genuine ones
from the cd.

in addition, after the method above
is done, the cd will remove all
old restore points and create a
brand new one.

here is more info on the above:

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827315

Run a /thorough/ check for hijackware, including posting your hijackthis log
to an appropriate forum.

When all else fails, HijackThis v2.0.2
(http://aumha.org/downloads/hijackthis.exe) is the preferred tool to use (in
conjunction with some other utilities). HijackThis will NOT fix anything on
its own, but it will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware with assistance from an expert. **Post your log to
http://spywarehammer.com/simplemachi...php?board=10.0,
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22,
http://aumha.net/viewforum.php?f=30, or another appropriate forum for review
by an expert in such matters, not here.**

If the procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting this
isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.
