| creating an icon for a shortcut? I have a shorcut to a file on my desktop. The shortcut is represented by an icon. If I wanted to replace it with another icon, I do right-click it, select Property and then click replace icon and select a necessary icon from a list. If I wanted to have a special icon of my own, how do I create such an icon and how do I make it to appear in the list of icons available for a given shortcut? |

You create an icon using a graphics program. You can use a general one like Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, or do a Google search for lots of inexpensive and even free icon editors. There are also Web sites that will take a JPG, or GIF, or BMP, and turn it into an icon (*.ico) for you. Once you have a *.ico file, use the "Browse..." button in the Change Icon dialog box to find it. -- Tim Slattery MS MVP(DTS) Slattery_T@bls.gov http://members.cox.net/slatteryt |
