My Lenovo T61 system stops working completely and randomly. The external
mouse, keyboard, internal keyboard, track point and track pad all stop
functioning. I have to power down using the power button which is the only
button on the machine that continues to work. Anyone having this issue that
has a suggestion would be appreciated.

Perhaps it is getting too hot.

Random lockups are most often caused by failing hardware and/or overheating.
Contact Lenovo tech support.
