Terminal Services Won't Start ... all of a sudden

Hi,

WinXPSP2 install, updated with everything but SP3. As of two days ago, will
no longer accept RDP sessions. All is well in the land of the check boxes,
firewall etc. So I went to services.msc to see if I can start Terminal
Services manually and get the following error:

Could not start.....Error 126: The specified module could not be found.

Also, when looking at my backups, I started to get errors where my backup
program can't backup certain files because of access denied errors due to
file attribute changes.

I ran a rootkit scan and NAV / AVG scans and come up with nothing.

Any ideas?

Download Termservice.reg fix and run it:
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/temp/termservice.reg
Running Terminal Services Manager
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l.../cc753397.aspx

The terminal service ImagePath in the Registry Editor:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\TermService]
ImagePath REG_EXPAND_SZ %SystemRoot%\System32\svchost -k DComLaunch

HTH,
