Instant Double Click Annoyance

Before you ask, I have searched ans searched the web for an answer to this.

Simple problem to explain. My mouse instantly double clicks in all
applications. I have checked drivers, checked the sensitivity settings,
checked all settings in the mouse applet in Control Panel in fact. The mouse
is not old as the whole PC is only about 8 months old, so it isn't worn out
either. I have even swapped out the mouse for another from a different
machine.

This is getting past annoying as it makes selection and movement in Excel
very difficult. (About 80% of my day is in Excel).

Any suggestions that do not cover the ground already crossed.

Did your machine get set to "single click, point to select" in Folder
Options, General tab? Much better that way IMO.

Re: Instant Double Click Annoyance

Nope. It is still set on double click. This effects everything, even
increasing the number of copies printed. 1..3...1....3.....2...finally!

Try going to the device manager and uninstall the mouse.
Then restart the computer and let if find the mouse again. Just a thought.

Re: Instant Double Click Annoyance

Don't know your mouse driver, but on my mouse driver I can configure the
buttons in control panel--mouse---buttons.
In left button drop down menu there is a setting for double click. Even if
you do not have this, I would suggest configuring
the left button to anything and then reset it to single click.

Re: Instant Double Click Annoyance

*Bonjour Glyn_Techie * !
<news:EB94782E-4833-491B-A748-1B284E7CF387@microsoft.com>

I recently got this strange problem after connecting a new Belkin
Powerline CPL networking adapter. Everything fine after :
1/ cut off power for everything
2/ new start
3/ connections

So my suggestion is :
disconnect devices and start again.
