data recovery

my computer crashed last week.
I used the recovery disk provided to reload windows.
Is it possible to recover old files created prior to the crash?

Re: data recovery

Only if you had stored them on a separate partition or drive.

Probably not. It's always a better option to keep a known good copy of your
data backed up someplace safe, though. Large, relatively fast external
hard drives aren't horribly expensive these days, consider it a good
investment.
