TXT trouble

I recovered some files recently from a drive I couldn't access after a recent
upgrade to XP SP3 and when I open the txt file, which I originally wrote in
Notepad, the text itself is, well, messed up.

Is there anyway to recover the text from these files? A different setting?
Maybe a program?

Any help is appreciated... thanks!

Please define "messed up". Remember - we can't see your screen!
It would help tremendously if you could post the first few screen
output lines of this command:
- Click Start / Run
- Type this: debug "c:\documents and
settings\pimp\docs\something.txt"{Enter}
- Tap the "D" letter on your keyboard and press {Enter}

Re: TXT trouble

This is obviously not a text file. The collection of 00s tells me that
you're dealing with a binary data file. What makes you think that
it should be a text file (other than its incorrect .txt extension)?

Re: TXT trouble

Because I wrote and saved the file myself. It was originally a text file.
Could have happened in the recovery of the file. Let me try and pull it off
the other harddrive. I'll post afterwards.
