Desktop / icons very slow to refresh ...

(I've been Googling but, today is not my Google day !)

....after working in Adobe Photoshop and sometimes other programs. Even
after a fresh restart, then using Adobe to work on a photo or two, ...when I
quit Adobe, it exits fast enough but, Desktop takes ages to refresh, i.e. 10
or 15 icons takes ages to turn from like a plain postage stamp to their
proper little graphic.
Any idea where I can rummage to tweak this, or is it just the norm. ?

regards, Richard

See Kelly's Korner (line 121): http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm
Increasing the size of your Icon cache

Also the TechRepublic you mentioned for more detail:
http://articles.techrepublic.com.com...1-5164407.html

This value is set to 8096 on my PC.

Re: Desktop / icons very slow to refresh ...

Many thanks for your response,
I have increased "Max Cached Icons" to 2000 bytes, (for some strange reason
MS reccommends this size instead of hex. multiples - 2048 etc._
....and it's all lovely !

regards, Richard
