user account new mail alert

When I start my computer and the user accounts show up on the windows xp
screen, my user account shows an old account has 50 new mail messages. I can
not figure out how it's getting this or how to make it disappear. How can I
remove it? It's not showing in my passport.net screen in my user account
info and when i search the email account i can't find it anywhere on my
computer.

Download this program from Microsoft.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...ertoySetup.exe

Once you've installed the program, go to Start -> All
Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP -> TweakUI
In the left hand column, click on the + sign next to Logon.
Click on Unread Mail.
In the right hand pane, remove the check mark from the box next
to "Show unread mail on the Welcome screen".
Click OK.
Reboot your computer.

For more info, take a look at this article.

Good luck
