I Lose Internet connection after inserting USB Bluetooth device

As the title suggests, just what is described happens... I insert the usb
bluetooth device and windows just goes right ahead and installs my new
hardware without any intervention from myself... after It's done I no longer
have an internet connection, although ostensibly everything is just the same
as before.. but I always get a cannot connect message in IE and Firefox...
the only way I can get my web connection back is by using system restore.

So,

1:How can I stop Win XP x64 from installing devices on the fly like it does

or,

2:How do I get my internet connection back after installing my USB Bluetooth
Adapter?

(and don't suggest using the wizard, cos it dont do a thing >.<)

If you're running x64, you should post to one of the x64 newsgroups such as:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof....64bit.general

MS newsgroups on the web:
