Copying user settings and user profiles from workgroup to domain

(sorry about the repeat posts, it didn't show up for me)

Our company is finally moving from a workgroup to a domain.

I have followed the instructions posted in other posts about copying the
user profile using the "system" applet. However, when I log in to the user,
none of my settings seem to be there. Not even the desktop background. As a
matter of fact, the system defaulted to a customized theme (not the standard
windowsXP theme)

This migration is on the same machine. Whatever settings and environment is
working as a local user is to be converted to a domain user on the same
machine. The entire environment would be the same. Only the logon would be
different.

It would seem that the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard copies your
environment to a drive (or share), you then log in as the domain user, and
run the Wizard again to copy back the files.

However, this does not migrate Outlook 2003 settings or Dreamweaver
settings or anything not in the list.

Is there a way to directly convert/copy the current environment to a domain
user on the same machine?

Is there an easier way? A one-way conversion (I won't need local logon again
on this machine)?

Does anyone know of a third-party solution? Or buried within TechNet?
And, can it be used in 2000 Professional on my boss' PC?

Julian

It's there, posted at 1324 hrs - no responses yet though. If you can't find
a post one way to locate it is through Google Groups Advanced search on
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, searching on your name.
