| Re: Cannot Backup system state Hi, I am too facing the same issue with ntbackup when attempting to backup the system state and wondered if you had any feed-back on this issue ...... All I have noticed is that nt backup crashes all the time while backing up a driver called sbp2port.sys....I have search lots of forums for infos but could not find relevant infos about this problem ...also tried to re-intall ntbackup.msi but did not resolve the issue BR GJB a écrit : > Ntbackup fails as follows when attempting to backup system state :- > > Faulting application ntbackup.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, faulting module > ntbackup.exe, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address 0x000a63f8. > > For more information, see Help and Support Center at > http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. > Data: > 0000: 41 70 70 6c 69 63 61 74 Applicat > 0008: 69 6f 6e 20 46 61 69 6c ion Fail > 0010: 75 72 65 20 20 6e 74 62 ure ntb > 0018: 61 63 6b 75 70 2e 65 78 ackup.ex > 0020: 65 20 35 2e 31 2e 32 36 e 5.1.26 > 0028: 30 30 2e 32 31 38 30 20 00.2180 > 0030: 69 6e 20 6e 74 62 61 63 in ntbac > 0038: 6b 75 70 2e 65 78 65 20 kup.exe > 0040: 35 2e 31 2e 32 36 30 30 5.1.2600 > 0048: 2e 32 31 38 30 20 61 74 .2180 at > 0050: 20 6f 66 66 73 65 74 20 offset > 0058: 30 30 30 61 36 33 66 38 000a63f8 > 0060: 0d 0a .. > I have not been able to find any info on this error |

It is an old, legacy app ported from NT, geared toward tape drives and hard drives. There are other, much better and more reliable backup solutions. I recommend using a drive imaging program such as Acronis True Image and saving the compressed images on external media such as a USB hard drive. -- Rock [MVP - User/Shell] |

| Re: Cannot Backup system state Never had such a problem here; are you sure that Shadow Copy is enabled? Even if it isn't, it should only result in an error message though, not a crash. If you look for something better, the imaging programs are the best. Acronis, Ghost, BootitNG; all 3 are good.
