My daughter has Windows XP (same as I) and most times (but not always) when
she or I insert a program CD this drop-down window comes up:

"Windows Installer

Errror opening log file. Verify that the specified log file
location
exists and is writable"

To me that makes no sense at all since we try to install a program and have
no intention of writing to this or any disk.

I have never encountered such a warning on any of my 3 computers and wonder
how to fix it? When this window comes up one cannot go on and install the
program.
