Screen Resolution

Hello,
Our office computer is a dell running XP Pro. and for some reason the
screen resolution is set way too big for our monitor. That is, for example,
when internet explorer is opened we have to scroll sidways constantly because
the whole page doesn't fit on the screen, if that makes any sense. Neither
myself or the other manager here have any idea about the workings of these
things and we need some advise. I thought i t might be a driver problem but
even if this is the case i have no idea how to remedy the problem, let alone
identify it. Everything works fine (sort of) but it is such a hassle to have
to be constantly scrolling to see the whole page. It seems that everything
about the display is larger than it should be. I've tried fiddling with the
display settings but can't manag to do anything about it. Please help...
anybody.

RE: Screen Resolution

Let's start with the basics.

Right click on any blank area on your desktop. Choose Properties. Click on
the Settings tab. About half-way down you should see Screen Resolution.
Moving the slider found there changes the screen resolution. The higher the
numbers, the smaller your icons will appear.

You must also click on Apply and OK to make these settings changes permanent.

If you have already tried this, please tell us what went wrong - exactly
what happens and what choices you have for screen resolutions.

If there's no driver problems for the graphics card, this should work:

Right-click the Desktop, click Properties. Click the Settings tab, and
click the slide on the left of the window to increase the screen
resolution. The window in the top center will show the relative size of
an example window. Set to 1024 by 768 for a 17" monitor, more
resolution for a 19" and possibly 800 by 600 for a 15" screen.

If these resolutions aren't available, you probably need to install the
drivers for the graphics card; you're probably currently running
standard VGA drivers if your card's drivers are missing or damaged.
