Strange Behavior-not sure what to do

So sometimes when I tell my computer to standby, it will do so, but after few
minutes, the fan will start roaring and the CD drive sounds like it's
spinning its heart out. During these antics, the computer comes back from
standby without even touching the mouse or keyboard (perhaps fury of the fan
moved the mouse a bit? No idea).

Anyhow, since this is not a software problem and hence no stack trace etc. I
have no idea what's going on or how to fix it. Suggestions?

Re: Strange Behavior-not sure what to do

The phone doesn't ring at all just prior to the PC springing to life? Check
the BIOS to see if Wake on LAN or Wake On Ring is enabled; if so disable
them and see if this fixes the problem.
