Re: Keeping successive downloads in memory.

How can one set my XP Home machine so that downloads, (i.e. individual
articles from a news letter), are successively read into memory and stacked
in the Taskbar, ...as used to be the default in older OS? Presently, the
second download erases the first etc. and to keep them I need to save each
article to disk, except the last one of course.
Suggestions that haven't worked were: CTRL+N, which gets me a new
Outlook Express email window, and right clicking the link, which however
does not produce an "Open in New Window" option on my machine.

If you're downloading these with IE, click Tools, Internet Options,
Advanced tab, deselect "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.

Wit OE, which you mention, wouldn't you just double-click a subject to
open it in its own window? It worked with my OE6.. If you have OE7,
try here:

OE General newsgroup:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...xpress.general

The "Reuse Windows for launching shortcuts" option was, and still is
deselected.

Thanks Joe. It's an emailed News Letter with a number of articles, each
having it's own link. I double click the link and get the download. Clicking
the next link however erases the first, so my IE6 still reuses the window,
despite the Control Panel - Internet Options - Advanced - 'Reuse Windows for
launching shortcuts' being unchecked.
