I installed PowerToy's Virtual Desktop Manager and after playing with it for
a while I decided to uninstall it. (I should have listened to you P.A.
Bear).

So I went to the Add/Remove Programs and removed it from there. BUT, it
seems to still be there. When I right click on the Taskbar and click on
Toolbars, its toolbar is still there - and still works!!

I rebooted: no change, it is still there.

Is it possible to get rid of PowerToy's Virtual Desktop Manager? I would
prefer to not use Restore because I have installed other programs since.

In case others need to know, I finally got rid of "MS Virtual Desktop
Manager" by searching for and deleting 2 files leftover after the uninstal:
- msdvm.ini
- and msdvm.dll

The listing for the "Desktop Manager" still exists in the Taskbar toolbar
list, but it no longer does anything when clicked on. So it now is just a
cosmetic problem.

Wonder how to remove it from the Taskbar list of toolbars to avoid later
confusion. I searched Regedit and found several "Desktop Manager" instances
but did nothing because I was not sure they did not refer to something else.
Anyone know?

I don't know if there is a specific entry; however, what I would do is right
click the entry in the registry, select export and create a .reg file so you
can easily restore the entry should it prove to be related to something
else. You could then right click the entry, delete it and either reboot and
see it the removal affected toolbar entry or you could push F3 and continue
to find and remove all "desktop manager" references (doing the export first
of course) before rebooting. I would probably remove all references at one
time.

Yes, I had thought of that but chickened out......

I was wondering if anyone knew where Windows keeps the reference to these
taskbar toolbars. I checked out the "Taskbar Repair Tool Plus" tool and
though it does allow you to remove certain standard toolbars (address,
language, Links, Media Player) it has no option to select the Desktop
manager for removal. But at least it means someone knows where these
toolbars are listed in Windows XP and there is a way to access them.
