Desktop Power / Screen saver problem

I have an older Windows XP system; the power option turning off the monitor
just stopped working, while the screen saver still works.

The only thing new loaded was Norton Virus definitions.

While reading other power problems I noticed one mentioned turn off EHTRAY,
however I do not have this running.

Any ideas what may cause this?
