Trouble Unlocking windows xp machine with domain user name and pas

Hi,
I never am connected to the LAN. When my machine was initially built, it
was joined to the domain and the person that built the machine logged on
using my username and password (davidd). Because this was done, my domain
account (davidd) was cached on my machine and this gave me the ability to log
on to my machine before any type of VPN connection was established. In my
daily routine, I log onto my machine with my cached domain credentials and
then from my VPN tunnel. Because I logged on to my machine with my domain
cached credentials, every time I access a resource inside Juniper, my machine
passes my domain security token and I am never prompted for my username and
password from services such as exchange.

A couple of weeks ago I was sent an e-mail telling me to change my password.
I did this and it told me my password was changed. The next time I accessed
a resource such as exchange, it prompted me for my credentials. I entered in
my new password and everything was fine. Later that day, my machine gave me
a pop up that told me I needed to cache my new credentials on my local
machine. It told me to lock my computer and then unlock it with my new
credentials (I expected it would have me do this to so that I could interact
with a DC while the tunnel was up and then cache my new password). When I
locked my computer (keep in mind that my tunnel is still up and running at
this point) and then tried to unlock it with my new credentials, I got an
error that said it could not contact the domain. I then had to unlock my
computer using my old domain password (because it was still cached on my
machine). Now when I connect, I have to log on to my machine with my old
locally cached domain credentials, then form my VPN tunnel, and then provide
my new credentials to every resource within Juniper that I access. Because
the resources in domain prompt me for my credentials and then pass them on to
the AD via the exchange server for example, I am never doing an interactive
logon directly with the DC which would cause my credentials to get cached on
my machine.

Any help would be appreciated
