auto update is off every time am starting windows please help

hi i have windows xp home edition and every time am starting windows i get a
message that my computer does not support the automatic update i tried to put
it on but all the icons disappear and i dont have any start point or somthing
on the screen i have installed windows again and format the harddisk but the
same problem is still in the windows
i had tried many ways like go in start -run and write services.msc and then
to automatic updates put it to automatic active but the next time i restart
windows the automatic uptade is not active and the message is again i had
do format two times and the same problem please help thanks you can send me
any information on : nice_sam_2********.com
