Assuming the only thing you have tried is a virus scan with Norton (some
unknown version - because you did not state it) - then yeah - there is a lot
you can do.

1) Describe what you have...
- Operating System
- Service Pack level
- Patches applied
- Applications
- Amount of Memory
- Processor speed
- Hard disk drive (full size and free space)

2) Describe what you have running...
- AntiVirus software
- AntiSpyware software
- Popup blockers
- Any other third party software you have running at all times

3) How many users are on this computer?
- Do all demonstrate the same trouble?
- If you create a new user - do they have the same trouble?

4) Better describe what you mean by "every other". I get this impression
from your paniced statement...

" I open notepad... No problem. But themn i cannot open Wordpad. I close
notepad and can open Wordpad - but then I cannot open notepad."

.... every other.

5) What have you actually done to try and remedy it? Don't leave out
anything.

Re: Not Responding

you likely have
a sluggish system and
the programs are
timing out.

you should download
a trial ware like systemmechanic
and run all the options avail in it.

i would temporarily disable
norton and be disconnected from
the net while tuning up your machine
with the above...

More confusion now...

"... every other program means only some sites are Non responsive, and some
usually clear in no time and return to normal ..."

So is this now not programs (applications like Word, Excel, Powerpoint,
Nero, Norton AV, Wordpad, Outlook Express, Internet Explorer, etc) but web
pages (web sites like www.google.com and www.pricewatch.com and the likes?)

At this point I am unsure if this is a Internet Explorer 7 question or a
Windows XP question. heh

Re: Not Responding

The not responding happens in virtually all programes, this to me means,
anything I open whether it is word, notepad,on the net,I.E, emails, there is
Not Responding,I mentioned Nero, and the instal of the new outlook express as
I assumed it might help you in the problem this to me again means this all
has happened since these were installed!! now that means it MIGHT be a valid
point as to why this is happening,if it makes no sense to you, well,

Have you tried simply uninstalling the aplications and restoring (using
system restore) back to the day before you installed said applications?
