It took quite a while, including several re-installations, to make it recognise the modem (already installed and working under XP) etc. I even have it working on a laptop with a GSM fax card.... that took rather longer!!! But one cannot enter the sender data like the fax and voice numbers. Only the CSID can be entered and if you try to type in any of the others the dialog box vanishes. I suspect the data is held in a file somewhere, or in the registry, but thus far have not found it. The winfax registry entry is under Delrina by the way (the original owner) not Symantec. |

Actually, Symantec issued version 10.03 that supposedly dealt with WinXP issues. I have version 10.02, which ran perfectly on my Win2K system but I never installed it after upgrading to WinXP Pro. FWIW, Symantec also issued a 10.04 update (patch) for version 10.02 and 10.03. Yes, Delrina was the original developer/author of Winfax. I had the Delrina suite of utilities which included winfax 3 (or maybe it was 4). Initially Symantec didn't do much to Winfax's code (thank goodness) that's why a lot of Delrina entries are found in the registry and elsewhere in the program settings. Here's an old link for info about the 10.04 update: Installing the WinFax PRO 10.04 update http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT...04?Open&src=_w |

And you had to have 10.03 to start with. What would really be useful to people is an upgrade from 10.02 to 10.03. I think Symantec charged for that one (annoying lots of users), which is why it's so hard to find. |

I have looked around P2P and can find the whole 10.02 package only. Lots and lots of it though :) I used Winfax since v4 and that version worked under win3.x and winNT4. Does anybody know how to configure the fax # in the "disappearing" user properties dialog? x----------x |

Installing SP3 hasn't affected it. We use two Creative Modem Blaster USB DE5670 that Talkworks detects for voice & data (due to the Conexant chipset which used to be Rockwell). The only thing we had to do was remove the INF files for Creative modems in Windows that didn't support voice so we could have it install the correct drivers. -- Terry R. ***Reply Note*** Anti-spam measures are included in my email address. Here's two: Symantec WinFax Pro 10.03 OEM http://trinitysoftwaredistribution.c...ro1003oem.aspx Symantec WinFax Pro 10.03 http://www.pacificgeek.com/product.a...5&ID=30304&P=F > I used Winfax since v4 and that version worked under win3.x and > winNT4. > > Does anybody know how to configure the fax # in the "disappearing" > user properties dialog? > Since this thread is now OT for this Windows XP NG, I'd suggest joining a more relevant forum such as: Premium WinFax support forums http://www.getfaxing.com/services.htm They should also be able to tell you what version 10.03 fixed for WinXP. |
