| Riprepped SP3 images suffer the continuous reboot problem I created an XP install point with SP3 integrated, created a flat RIS image from the install point, and can RIS build workstations from that no problem. I can build a workstation from one of our customised XP SP2 Riprep images, install SP3 on the workstation, either manually or via WSUS, and it works fine. However, if I use Riprep on one of the workstations that has been upgraded to SP3 to create a customised image, and then try to install this image back onto the same workstation, the image copies down to the workstation ok, but at the first reboot after the files have been copied, the workstation cold boots a couple of seconds after the Windows XP splash bitmap shows at the start of bootup, and continues to do so until powered off, even if safe mode is selected. The workstations are all Dell with Intel processors. I tried our images for both single core and dual core workstations with the same result. Nick Payne |

| Re: Riprepped SP3 images suffer the continuous reboot problem I am having this exact same problem. - Slipstreamed SP3 flat images. - Flat Installed and customized - RIPrep - Deploy and get reboot loop even in safe mode. I have made about 10 Images and using both SP2 and SP3, I am going back to test the fully customized SP2 Image. Last edited by ryoojin83; 05-27-2008 at 01:30 PM.. |
