| Change in Appearance of Start Menu I'm sure this is a silly question, however, I do not know how to fix the problem. When I go to the "Start" button and click on "My Documents" I no longer get the sc reen that I used to that allows me to choose "Shared Documents". It goes directly to "My Documents", which isn't what I want to do. I certainly don't remember changing anything, and if I did, I certainly don't know what I did or how to undo it. Could someone please help me? Every other user on the same computer has theirs set the way I want mine. Can't figure out what I must have done. Appreciate your time. Cheri |

When I click 'my computer' on the start menu, 'shared documents' is one of the choices. Now you could probably right click and drag it to your 'my documents' and make a shortcut there? All it is a link to C:\documents and settings\all users\shared documents. |

| Re: Change in Appearance of Start Menu It's not "My Documents" file that I'm talking about. It's when you click on "Start" then click on "My Documents" and it brings up a screen that shows options on the left had side such as "Shared Documents", etc. I used to be able to choose "Shared Documents" from that screen, but now it goes directly to "My Documents" folder which I don't want it to do. I want to be able to access "Shared Documents" from clicking "Start" then "My Documents". Does anyone know how to do that. Also, When I am trying to take photos from my digital camera to load them on the computer, I no longer have the screen that allows me to "Copy photos" to a destination that I choose, or to "Move photos"...or any of the other options. That screen is now misssing and I don't know how to retrieve it. I don't even know what I did to make it disappear in the first place. I don't know how to explain this any clearer. Can anyone help? Or does anyone understand what I'm talking about? Thanks, Cheri "Big Al" wrote: > Cheri :o) wrote: > > I'm sure this is a silly question, however, I do not know how to fix the > > problem. However I think what you are talking about is the sidebar in explorer that shows things like 'system tasks', 'other places', and details, and inside the other places is my network places, my docs, shared docs and control panel. If this is what is missing is this sidebar I can turn it on and off by clicking search or folders on the top. Is there anything on the left side? If not, then go to tools, folder options and make sure the first 'tasks' radio button is selected. Beyond this, I guess I don't understand your problem. |

| Re: Change in Appearance of Start Menu Big Al, Thank you so much for your time. I'm sorry I couldn't explain it any better. I started playing around with it again tonight to try to resolve my issue, and it was probably a fluke, but I have it back to the way I wanted it. It was something I had to change under "folders" which was something about displaying common things together. Can't even find where I was at now! Anyway, thank you for your time and effort. I really do appreciate it! Cheri "Big Al" wrote: > Cheri :o) wrote: > > It's not "My Documents" file that I'm talking about. I don't like how preferences of display are managed in explorer anyway, kinda agree with you. Also this being a text based newsgroup, its frowned on picture attachments but it would be great if that were done. 'picture worth 1000 words.' thing. glad it fixed either way. |
