Desktop problem

I have done something silly, and cant get out of it, and wonder if someone
can remind me how to resolve an issue.

My desktop originally had just white words under the icons, now I have a
blue square background box behind the white writing?
I cant for the life of me find a way of getting rid of the blue background
box, I looked in the advanced tab, and find I can change the colour, but get
shot of the box. Any ideas please
Bob

Many thanks, trouble is it didn't work, followed your suggestion, but I
still have blue backgrounds to the labels on the desktop icons.

If I go to display properties/advanced, it feels like I should be able to
select the desktop drop down tab and select "no background colour", trouble
is its not there to choose?

Emimec

I think I have what you want.

Try Start, Control, Panel, Display, Settings, Appearance. Al six items
should be checked except Use large icons (unless you prefer them). Items
1 and 2 have scroll options and I have Fade Effect for Item 1 and
Standard for Item 2.

Hope this helps.

To have transparent icons:

1) Hold down the Windows key and press Pause/Break. On the "Advanced"
tab, under "Performance" click "Settings." On the "Visual Effects"
tab, make sure the box "Use drop shadows for icon labels" is checked.

2) Right-click on the Desktop, and make sure that "Arrange Icons by"
"Lock Web items" is not checked.

3) Right-click on the Desktop, and choose Properties. On the "Desktop"
tab, click "Customize Desktop," then on the "Web" tab, uncheck all
boxes.

4) Make sure any Wallpaper is an image file. Html will stop the
transparency.
