| Problem installing 3rd party software on XP home edition Whenever I download and install a software, it gives me an error message. that I am not the administrator or don't have the rights. that I need to log in as admin. I am on my own laptop and logged in as admin. I did check the user account in control panel to make sure that I am the administrator. I have tried to download different software from different websites with the same result. I contacted my manufacturer (OEM- fujitsu) and they couldn't solve it. I tried microsoft and they are asking for $35 to fix it. I think this could be a problem with the registry or something else. this may help - I have tried to download an mp3 from audible.com and access it from itunes and it didn't let me do it. I had to contact the customer service and she did a remote log in to my computer and gave access to all the user accounts to be able to use and access the download using 'regedit'. any help is appreciated. |

Have you tried creating a new account with admin privileges and seeing if you can install software from that account? |
