| Offline Sync files from server Good Day, I was sync files from one of our data servers (Windows 2003 SP1) to a laptop (Windows XP SP2) She needed more space on her hard drive so we elected to stop the sync so I went into the setting and disabled the sync. I did not get much space back from this and I checked the files size in the database and they were very small, hardly took up any space. Am I missing something here? Do I need to do anything thing else to clean up the sync to really free up that space again. Thanks in Advance Adam Raff |

| RE: Offline Sync files from server Hello, Based on your description, I understand that you want to set the disk space on the client machine that was used by the offline files free. If I have any misunderstanding, please feel free to let me know. To reset offline files and database, you can perform the following steps: Suggestion 1 ---------------- 1. In Folder Options , on the Offline Files tab, press CTRL+SHIFT, and then click Delete Files . The following message appears: The Offline Files cache on the local computer will be re-initialized. Any changes that have not been synchronized with computers on the network will be lost. Any files or folders made available offline will no longer be available offline. A computer restart is required. Do you wish to re-initialize the cache? 2. Click Yes two times to restart the computer. Suggestion 2 ---------------- If this problem continues, you can perform the following steps to delete offline files manually: 1. Start Windows Explorer. 2. On the Tools menu, click Folder Options . 3. Click Hide protected operating system files . 4. Disable View , which is enabled by default. 5. Simply delete the %SystemRoot%\CSC folder and restart the computer. After the system is back online, the CSC folder structure is rebuilt. If the system partition is full and the customer has other drives, you may refer to the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article to move the Windows default page and spool files to another drive: 123747 Moving the Windows Default Paging and Spool File http://support.microsoft.com/?id=123747 I hope that the above information can be of assistance.
