I use the following router:

NETGEAR WGR614 IEEE 802.3, IEEE 802.11b/g Wireless Router


I need to extend my range within my home. What would be a very good
repeater to use ?

Has anyone here used a repeater with this router ? I would prefer to use a
Netgear repeater (stay with same brand), but I am confused when I look at
their products, and don't know how to choose.

Have you considered upgrading the Antenna? I was able to
greatly extend my range within the house by changing out one of the
little antennas for a better one with a short cable that allowed me
to mount it near the ceiling. You can get omni-directional (All
directions) or for a specific trouble area a directional "Corner" one.
You will need to confirm your unit has a detachable antenna though.

My experience with Repeaters was a while ago and not a good one.
The unit kept locking up, so my experience would probably not be
a fair assesment of todays offerings.

I tried the "upgraded Antenna" route once and it did not help enough.
I have a computer in a shop building out back of my house.
But I then bought a "Linksys Wireless-G Range Expander" (model WRE54G) and just plugged in into a
110V wall socket at the back of my house.
Now I get a strong clear signal in my shop.
My wireless router is a DLink model and I use several different USB Network adapters in the shop to
temporarily connect customer computers to the Web so the Range Expander works great with all brands
of network gear.
It was also very easy to set up the Range Expander.
Just plug it into a power source, push a button and it finds and locks in to the wireless systems it
finds.
Because I use both WEP and MAC filtering with my wireless system, I did have to program my wireless
router to allow access to the MAC address on the Range Expander.
