Search Result

I have suddenly found a New Folder on my Desktop, it has a magnifying glass
on it. When I right click on it, it has three options: Open, Explore and
Create Shortcut. Clicking Open does not do anything, clicking Explore it
opens with all the items on my desktop inside it.
I deleted one of the items in this folder (a small game which I do not use)
and it went into the bin.
What shall I do with this Folder

Re: Search Result

Hi,

Click Start, Run and type CMD.EXE
Type the following command:

REG EXPORT HKCR\CLSID\{e17d4fc0-5564-11d1-83f2-00a0c90dc849} C:\srchfldr.txt

Press Enter.

Type EXIT to quit Command Prompt.

Now, open C:\srchfldr.txt using Notepad, copy and paste the contents in your
reply.

Re: Search Result

Since I sent this post in I have put the 'Search Result' folder in the
unused icons folder on the desktop, using the desktop cleaner option.

I still have done what you have suggested.

Re: Search Result

I believe the desktop icon is a namespace item ("Search Results" or the
"Computer Search Results" folder), and they don't appear in the Desktop
although they are defined under Desktop namespaces in the registry. All I
wanted to check was the "Attributes" dword value, but it appears correct
from your post.

Nice! If the icon re-appears, download and install TweakUI. Open TweakUI,
select "Desktop" and hide the "Search Results" folder from the listing. You
can download TweakUI from here:
