| Re: Serial Port (COM1) Troubleshooting The problem you are seeing is probably because the device that you have connected to the serial port is transmitting data when Windows boots up and Windows is installing the serial mouse driver for the port by mistake. To test this, unplug the device from the serial port and reboot the PC. After Windows reboots, plug the device in. If you can communicate with the device when you do this then this is the problem. The solution is to to put a NoSerialMice clause in your Boot.INI file. For details refer to: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q131976/ On Mon, 2 Oct 2006 10:05:02 -0700, Rodrigo Santos <RodrigoSantos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote: >I use the COM1 port to load a firmware application into a specific hardware, >it only comunicates through serial port, and at one day the COM1 just stop >working and it only works if I uninstall it and reboot the computer because >when the windows log on again it installs the COM1 driver by it self and the >COM1 works again until the computer be turned off and I have to repeat the >process to make the port works again. > >Does anybody know what is this? |
