| Advanced folder options disabled. ("Edit" & "Delete" grayed out) Currently, when I click on a folder icon in Explorer, a new window appears. I went into the folder options and insured the "open in same window" option was selected (it was). So I clicked on the "File Types" tab, selected "Folders", and clicked the "Advanced" button. I could only "Add" or "Make Default". The "Edit" and "Delete" buttons are disabled I run ZoneLABS, Spyware Doctor, and Ad-aware programs, as well as use "Advanced Systems Optimizer" to clean up the registry, temporary files, etc. I uninstalled all of these programs (except ZoneLABS, because I've tweeked the file types before when ZL was installed. The Uninstallation made to improvement. I found references to registry edits and have tried them without any success either. I keep deciding to just live with it until I find 10 Explorer windows open because I was looking for a file buried in several sub-directories. There must be registry entries that set this status. What are they and what values should they have to enabled the advnced "Edit" and "Delete" button? -- Thanks MUCH! Dave |

Editing registry can result in problems like this but this is small problem. Well, it is a problem if one has managed to add something, and can then not edit ot remove it! What is the point of being able to add an option via the windows interface but not remove or alter it? Of course, one can do it via registry edits, but for most users that is not practical (or safe). I am sure it is to prevent users messing up, but as it stands one can add all sorts of rubbish, and be stuck with it. I like to add context menu items for folders (and drives), and have taken to using vbs to do this, as the vbs snippet acts to remind me what the options are called internally, and a couple of extra lines can be used to remove the entry when no longer needed. | RE: Advanced folder options disabled. ("Edit" & "Delete" grayed out) I'm having the exact same problem - I've checked to make that "open in same window" is checked and it is It's very frustrating to have so many freaking windows open - why did this change and how can I change it back? Also, when I open the drive that has my files on it, instead of getting a list of things in the left hand pane (system tasks, Other places, Details) I get what I would get if I clicked on the folder tab in the address bar. Somebody make this stop! please! werekenn "Dave the wave" wrote: > Currently, when I click on a folder icon in Explorer, a new window appears.
