Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error When Installing AVG Antivirus

Not sure if anyone can help, I can't post this in the AVG user form as I
cant install to get a registration to post it. When I try to install AVG
trial or free or a paid version I get After you see the license agreement &
you accept & then you see this window pop up saying Microsoft Visual c++
Runtime Library in the top of the box & then says Runtime Error! under that
says directory where install file is ex c:\avg\avgsetup.exe then under that
says
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
After 15 hours of this I got through to AVG & they told me to run counter
spy & other spyware & I done that for the last 12 hours & none & no viruses.
I was also told maybe I have to reinstall my C++ runtime but don't know how?
I tried uninstalling netframework 1.1 & 2.0 & reinstalling them, no good. I
tried to install mdsn from Microsoft site says I have latest & wont install.
I have all the updates form Microsoft. Also I was told I may of had bad
installation from previous. I had AVG 7.1 before its not in system now use a
reg cleaner & all no directories but thinking maybe hidden registry values?
I don't think this is it but was reading from their groups. So ids there a
way to uninstall C++ runtime & reinstall it? I am think this also causing my
computer to act funky @ time when I drag a icon it wont go all the way it
freezes @ times & when I copy & paste it highlights the whole screen not
just the word or phrase.

Please Help!

Does AVG use InstallShield? If so, there are a number of articles on
InstallShield's site about problems with upgrading the installer, such as
this one:
