My clients are starting to revert to older display settings it see

I run an entirly XP client shop with Windows 2003 servers and SMS 2003 for
remote control.
What im noticing is that most of my clients desktops are reverting back to
an "old look and feel" for their display settings AFTER we log in and then
log off of SMS remote control. Its like it downgrades the display stuff when
I connect and then doesnt revert back once I disconnect. Im not sure why,
ive tried multiple things to get it back with no luck.

the 2 things that are MOST noticable is that oulook 2003 looks like Outlook
2000, and the desktop icons are not see through where the text is like normal
and instead have color around the text.

Any ideas on what to check?
