| HELP... Blank Screen Hello, I am having an issue with a fresh install of Windows XP Professional... Once the installation was complete I gave the computer back to the user and they reported that after the "Windows XP" loading screen a blank screen appeared and nothing else would load. I brought the computer back and repaired the windows installation and tried rebooting multiple time to make sure everything was fine. I then brought it back to the user once again and 2 weeks later they had the same issue. I asked the user if they changed or installed anything when it happened and the answer was a definate NO. I once again brought it back and started my troubleshooting. I unplugged everything within the computer and when I unplugged both CD-ROM drives the computer was able to boot. I tried plugging 1 CD-ROM at a time and the system would not boot with any single 1 plugged. I even tried to plug each of the CD-ROM drives as slave with the HDD and it would not boot either. I figured it may be a compatibiliy issue with one of the Windows updates and the BIOS so I did a BIOS update, plugged both CD-ROMS on the secondary IDE controller (Master and Slave) and the computer booted no problems. The user has been using it for a few days now and they are getting the blank screen once again... ANY IDEAS? |

Not likely to be a software (Windows) problem. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |
