Fatal System Error

Yesterday, my computer had enormous print and thanks to this forum I was able
to solve that problem. (reinstalling nvidia). Today I turned on my Dell
Windows Xp 2000 and got a C000021a (Fatal System Error) St uses 0xc0000005.
I turned off the computer and left if off for about 20 minutes. Booted up
again and got to start page but nothing loaded. Windows task manager showed
no applications etc. running. I again shut off computer and when I started
it again it is now working.

My question is this a sympthom of something else? Like my hard drive is
going bad? Is there anything I can do. Thanks

Re: Fatal System Error

If you suspect the hard drive you can download the hard drive test program
from the manufacturer of your hard drive and run it. You need to make a
backup of the drive just in case.

However, the 0xc0000005 error is sometimes mentioned in forums as relating
to a race condition that shuts down windows explorer. You might try this
fix and see if it helps:

Re: Fatal System Error

I'm having the same issue on some of my Dells. I'll see if this solution
also works.

Thanks,

Kevin
