Small icons option in taskbar

A friend of mine says he wants to reduce the size of the icons in his
taskbar. I said that if I remembered correctly, there should be an
option to do this by right clicking the taskbar and then properties.

Just tried it myself and there is no option.

I could have sworn I used the method I suggested to him.

Do you have to use the up/down arrow icon to achieve this?

There is and option to use small icons for the START MENU (start menu
tab>customise), does this also reduce taskbar icons?

The option only appears if the task bar is not locked. Right click on the
task bar and click on the 'Lock the taskbar' to remove the tick to the left.
A 'view' option (among others) becomes available next time you right click
the taskbar (in the quick launch part) and when you hover over it, the
option for large and small icons should fly out.

That did it, I'll make a note of it for future ref.

Thanks very much.
