windows life cam 1000, no sound

I use Windows XP and Yahoo Messenger. I installed the Life Cam XV 1000
webcam a few days ago. There is no sound from me or the person I am
attempting to communicate with.
I have tried troubleshooting suggestions, reloaded software and checking all
settings.
Any suggestions?
