Search buttons is greyed out and search does not stop

I have a bunch of users with XP Home who would search for a file in a
particular folder on the server. After th esearch finds the file, they click
Back and it does back but the Search button is greyed out. In some cases,
even though they press the Stop button, it does not stop. Another user in
that group is unable to search certain folders on the server but is able to
search others. Please help, thanks.
