| strange folder in my xp box I notice that my 45 hard drive on my laptop was 99% full even though I only had the computer for 3 months. I used treesize utility software to scan the hard drive. Everything looked normal except for a folder called "RRbackups". It said access was denied for this folder so it could not determine its size. The strange thing is that when I looked in my C:\ drive I did not see that folder even though I have "show hidden files" turned on nor I could see it from the command prompt. Few weeks ago I tried to upgrade my xp, sp2, to vista. I did not go too far before it crashed due to bad CD which I bought from over seas. Since I new to vista, I am not sure if the "RRbackups" has anything to do with the the failed upgrade. I really appreciate any suggestions and I realy do not want to restore the original OS because I have many thing on my computer. Waiting for your help. Thanks, |

| Re: strange folder in my xp box 99 percent full is bad news - real bad and you will likely incur a crash pretty soon or even a hard disk failure if you don't take corrective action soon. further, installing anything more on the disk would be futile. firstly, you should boot into safemode and begin removing some software to bring back some disk space. pick any software to remove at this time to uninstall. you can reinstall it/them at a later time. secondly, be sure that your virtual memory is set to a max of no more than 1152. further, rrbackups may be taking up the space and the files may not be accessible because they are being protected. double check at your computers homesite and see if this is a factory included software that you can disable and uninstall. based on this: http://search.live.com/results.aspx?...c=IE-SearchBox it seems that the program is designed for os2. if i am not mistaken this is a ibm product for a ibm laptop, -- db ·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·..><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º>¸. ><)))º>·´¯`·.¸. , . .·´¯`·.. ><)))º>`·.¸¸.·´¯`·.¸.·´¯`·...¸><)))º> .. | Re: strange folder in my xp box Dooma I was not suggesting that you should use it. If Rollback is installed it could be responsible for the strange folder you were asking about. Rollback can also create very large files which leave you with little or no free disk space. -- Hope this helps.
