| Auto Hide "Hides Task bar" after each restart...??? Each time I start my computer the "auto-hide" feature is selected and my bar hides. I set it not to hide and lock the bar, but after the pc is restarted it returns with auto hide enabled. All Windows and Internet Security updates are up to date and no Virus's or spyware XP Home SP2 |

If there was no malware detected, this doesn't mean at all that your system is clean. See if this article applies provided that there is no Norton software installed: "Disable Save Settings at Exit" http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/152/ Delete the registry entry "NoSaveSettings" where present or set its value to '0'. Reboot when done and try your settings again. You may want to create a System Restore point before you edit the registry. -- d-d |

| Re: Auto Hide "Hides Task bar" after each restart...??? One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include but are not limited to Ad-aware's Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer, SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, and Zone Alarm (Free and Pro). One of those security programs is probably preventing the Registry change involved in making that change. -- Frank Saunders MS-MVP IE,OE/WM www.fjsmjs.com Do not reply with email |
