Scheduled task error

Hello,

I am using XP Home SP2 w/all updates.

I am trying to run a task but I get result 0x40010004 (incorrect password or username). I have changed nothing on my system except to remove the password for the only user I have on the system. How do I fix this problem so the task will run.

I have tried to modify the password for the task so it will be blank, but when I click OK I get the following error:

"An error has occurred while attempting to set task account information.
The specific error is:
0x80070005: Access is denied
You do not have permission to perform the requested operation"

Can anyone help with this?

Respectfully,
Bob Brannon

Re: Scheduled task error

Thanks for the tip! It is much easier and right in line with what I wanted. I checked on old strings about this subject and they said one had to use a password or do a registry hack or something to complex for what I wanted.

Thanks again!

Re: Scheduled task error

Im experiencing something similar.

I have set up a scheduled task on a remote PC (server) to run a small application which closes itself after completing its task and so releases the scheduled task. The task is set to run using my profile even if I am not logged in.

If I connect to this remote PC via VPN and remote desktop, then the task runs, the application runs and does its business and closes and releases the scheduled task as expected.

However, if I am NOT logged in or connected via VPN/Remote Desktop, the scheduled task still runs but the application only registers in the list of processes, not in the list of running applications. Therefore the 'application' does not close and neither does the scheduled task.

Any help would be appreciated.
