Re: removing virus

Most of the time Antivirus programs have a setting that if the infected file
is not cleanable, it will delete the file and notify you of the deletion, I'm
not familiar with AVG.
Also if the infected is located within the restore area, you can clean it by
turning off the system restore reboot the pc and turn it back on, this will
delete the restore points and the infected file.

Re: removing virus

sometimes a virus and its
variants can be deleted or
contained by the anti virus
program. but virus's work
in different ways.

however if a virus corrupts a
windows system file then the
anti virus program may not be
able to restore the genuine system
file that was corrupted by the virus.

many people do not understand
the benefit of "genuine" windows
files. however, it is because of
corruption and illegal duplication
that genuine files can restore your
operating system.

double check the information on
the virus and don't be surprised if
you simply have to do a 'repair install"
with your windows cd to replace any
missing or corrupted system files after
the virus was contained or eliminated.

True, many files may not be cleaned. Best bet in the future is NOT do
download and/or install a virus.
